TOWSON, Md.--The Hood College men's soccer team (1-2) was
shutout for the first time this season, falling 4-0 to the Goucher
College Gophers (2-1) Wednesday in a nonconference matchup.
The Blazers and Gophers were deadlocked in a scoreless tie until
the 42nd minute when T.J. Yumoto booted in the first goal of the
contest off assists from Phil Hirsch and Alexis Mathov.
Goucher tacked on another goal midway through the second half
when Julien Greco found the back of the net in the 66th minute.
Then late in the second stanza, Elijah Lias and Andrew Bull
registered back-to-back tallies within a span of 1:45.
Conor Prachar, Christopher Mendez, Corey DeMaster, Carlin Rabie
and Brandon Garton all recorded shots for the Blazers but Goucher's
Justin Holbrook denied all four attempts on goal.
Shawn Fernholz made three saves for Hood, which was outshot 19-5
in defeat.
The Blazers host their first opponent of the season Monday when
Hood entertains Valley Forge Christian College at 4:30 p.m. at
Thomas Athletic Field.
