Marymount Too Much for Blazers, 69-33

Box Score

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's basketball team (5-7, 1-5 CAC) was unable to overcome a slow start on Saturday afternoon in falling to the Marymount University (Va.) Saints (7-5, 5-1 CAC) , 69-33, in the Odom Fitness Center at Fort Detrick.

The Saints jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the opening minutes before senior guard Kameran Evans put the Blazers on the board with a three-pointer to reduce the deficit to 4-3. That was as close as the Blazers would get to the Saints in the contest as Marymount responded with a 33-5 run over the next 16 minutes, as the Blazers went 1-for-17 from the field over that stretch. The Saints held a commanding 40-13 lead at the intermission.

The second half was much of the same as the Saints opened the stanza on a 16-6 run to take a 56-19 lead midway through the half.

Hood got 12 points and five boards from Briana White, who connected on 4-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line. Allyson Lethbridge climbed one more notch on Hood's all-time scoring chart with seven points, bringing her career total to 878, good for eighth on the list. She is also one three-pointer away from becoming the fifth Hood women's basketball player to drain 100 treys. Lethbridge's two steals in the contest boost her to seventh on the career steals chart (132).

Hood hits the road Wednesday for a CAC tilt at York College (Pa.) at 6 p.m.
