Box Score FREDERICK, Md.—The Hood College men's soccer team (3-6-1, 0-3-1 CAC) was defeated 1-0 this afternoon by Capital Athletic Conference rival Marymount University (3-6-3, 1-1-2 CAC) for its fourth one goal defeat in a row.
Marymount's Dannish Decardi-Nelson broke through for Marymount in the 59th minute scoring his second goal of the season. Meceal Getachew assisted on the goal making a nice run down the right flank and playing a very good ball into space for the gliding Decardi-Nelson to hammer home past Hood goalkeeper Will Lane. This would prove to be the decisive goal of the matchup and the only goal Marymount would need.
It was the same story as it has been for most of the year for the Blazers as they were unable to get much going on the offensive end. Hood managed just three shots for the game and relied mostly on its defense to try and keep Marymount at bay. Mat Dybala had Hood's best chance late in the contest but his shot was hit wide of the mark.
Hood goalkeeper Will Lane had another solid game between the pipes as he made five saves in his 90 minutes of work. Lane also denied Marymount on a penalty kick in the 89th minute to keep Hood alive momentarily but the blue and grey could not capitalize. Marymount goalkeeper Mike Madigan was credited with two saves.
Hood returns to action at home on Saturday for its senior day encounter against CAC rival Frostburg University. The game will start at approximately 3:30 p.m. and the senior recognition will begin around 3:15 p.m.
