Box Score ARLINGTON, Va.--The Hood College women's basketball team (7-15, 2-13 CAC) dropped a 58-51 Capital Athletic Conference decision to the Marymount University Saints (11-9, 9-5 CAC) Saturday afternoon.
The setback was Hood's eighth straight while the Saints moved into a tie for third place in the CAC standings with Frostburg State University.
The Blazers and Saints traded baskets for the first 10:16 of the opening stanza before the Saints put together a 9-2 spurt over the next four minutes. Hood cut it to two twice in the final 3:43, but Marymount scored the final seven points of the period, highlighted by a four-point play by Amanda Billy. Marymount led 27-18 at halftime.
At the start of the second half, Sam Spencer drained a three and Billy knocked down another jumper to put the Saints up 14, and Hood was unable to draw closer than seven the rest of the way.
Allyson Lethbridge paced the Hood offense with 13 points to go along with five boards while Emily Maerz nailed three three-point baskets for 11 points. Dyanna Prater finished with nine points, four steals and eight rebounds. MU's Beth Wiggins and Maame Amponsah both finished with double-doubles for the victors.
Hood returns to the Odom Fitness Center at Fort Detrick for its final two games of the season. The Blazers entertain the Salisbury University Sea Gulls Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Trinity University (D.C.) Friday at 7 p.m.
