Second Round of CAC Golf Championship Cancelled, Hood Ends Up Fourth

HAMPSTEAD, Md.--Due to heavy rains across the region, the second round of the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference men's golf championship on Saturday was cancelled.

The opening round scores posted by all five participating teams on Friday at the Piney Branch Golf Club will count as the championship's final results.

Senior Andy Alger finished third overall with a score of 79 and as a result became the first Hood golfer to earn first team all-CAC honors. Alger also claimed the Andrew Geyer Memorial Award, presented to a participant in the golf championship who demonstrates outstanding academic
credentials, athletics, citizenship and community service.

Hood finished fourth in the team standings, while host Stevenson University was crowned conference champion. Mustang first-year Ben Lukehart won CAC player and rookie of the year accolades after carding the top score of 73 yesterday.
