KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The men's golf team wraps up a hot start to the season with two Top 5 finishers and a second-place finish at the Berkleigh Golf Club as part of the Berkleigh Challenge hosted by Albright this past Friday and Saturday.
On the Scorecards
Griffin Cansler (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) boasted a podium finish with a second-place spot shooting a 72 on the first day and followed with a 74. The sophomore owned the back nine, shooting 36 on both days and ending today with birdies on Hole 17 and 18. He won the tiebreaker in extra golf to take sole ownership of silver.
David Nuckolls (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) shot one of the hottest rounds of the tournament during the first 18, finishing day 1 with a 71 and decorating the front nine score card with three birdies and an eagle on Hole 5. Nuckolls would simmer down on the second day, but even with the crooked numbers he still put up three birdies during the round to finish the tournament in ninth.
Rounding out the returners is
Caleb Dolan (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) in 20th, who elevated his game after shooting an 81 on the first day by finishing the second day with a birdie on 10 and then six birdies through Holes 13 through 17.
Eli Kane (/Hamden Hall Country Day) made his college debut and shot a 160 for the tournament and notched three birdies in his final round to improve his first 18 total by eight strokes.
Whitcomb's first time out included a pair of birdies on the front nine of day one to get some good golf underneath his belt, finishing the tournament with a 164
