Hood Beaten by Arcadia, 2-0

Box Score

GLENSIDE, Pa.—The Hood College men's soccer team (3-7-2, 0-5 Commonwealth) was defeated by Arcadia University (6-4-3, 3-2 Commonwealth) 2-0 on Saturday evening. Arcadia used an early goal to carry momentum throughout the game and put the Blazers away with a late goal that keeps Hood winless in conference play.

Hood came out flat and gave up a goal just 28 seconds into the fixture. Arcadia's Tim O'Leary had a solid cross into the box that was hammered home by Alex Wells to put Hood down 1-0 early. It was not the kind of start the Blazers were envisioning and it paid dividends to Arcadia to get that early goal. Freshman Neal Morgan tried to answer in the eighth minute of play, but his opportunity was turned away by Arcadia goalkeeper Ryan Lantzy.

Neither team was able to seize anymore scoring chances until late into the second half when Arcadia capitalized on a shot by Dean Search. David Jacobs made a nice run and played a quality ball across the goal mouth that Search hit past Hood goalkeeper Ryan Deuber in the 84th minute. That goal all but ended Hood's chances and sent the Blazers to another disappointing conference defeat.

Hood goalkeeper Ryan Deuber made six saves on the game, while facing 19 Arcadia shots. His counterpart Ryan Lantzy made three saves on five Blazer shots. Arcadia also held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Blazers return to action this Wednesday when they host conference foe Lebanon Valley College. The game will begin at 3:30 p.m.
