ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Hood College men's soccer team (3-4-2, 0-2 Commonwealth) was defeated by Elizabethtown College (4-5-2, 2-0 Commonwealth) 6-0 in the squad's first road conference game. The Blue Jays came out strong and did not let up for the full 90 minutes, as the Blazers were outmatched for the majority of the match.

Elizabethtown got on the board in the fifth minute with a quality left footed strike by Dylan Sisler that beat Hood goalkeeper Ryan Deuber at the near post. The Blazers tried to counter with a strong hit by junior Eric Diehl, however Diehl hit his attempt just wide of the goal frame.

Elizabethtown continued the scoring in the 15th minute as its wide play gave the Blazers fits. Elizabethtown's Ross Withrow had a very nice move on the outside and delivered a quality ball into the box that was headed home by Zach Lee. Just two minutes later in the 17th minute Martin Fevre busted up the middle and hit a shot to the left corner that beat Deuber to extend the lead to 3-0. Good width again led to Elizabethtown's fourth goal as the Blue Jays got the ball wide and crossed into the six yard box for an easy tap in for Adriano Maneo in the 25th minute. Freshman Joey Fontanez had a good header off a corner kick that just went over the bar late in the second half, while Naji Grizzle had a good strike at goal that was turned away by Elizabethtown goalkeeper Eric Carr.

Elizabethtown added two more goals in the second half by Zach Lee and Cal Graziano respectively to give the Blue Jays the 6-0 win.

Hood goalkeeper Ryan Deuber made six saves on the afternoon, while Elizabethtown used four goalkeepers to preserve the shutout and turn away four Blazer shots.

Hood returns to action this Saturday when they take on Albright College in the second part of a double-header at Thomas Athletic Field. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
