WESTMINSTER, Md. - Hood College's Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) recorded her second double-double of the year with 14 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. But, a McDaniel College defense ranked among the national leaders limited the Blazer attack in a 65-52 victory for the Green Terror.

Wiley finished 6-of-10 from the floor and sank her only two free throw attempts of the afternoon. The junior also blocked two shots in the contest.

Danni Medovich (Woodsboro, Md. / Walkersville) reached double figures in scoring for the fourth time this season and ended her day with 11 points. The freshman guard knocked down 5-of-10 field goals.

Verkia Smith's (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) six assists were the most by a Blazer this season.

Both teams capitalized off the other's mistakes. McDaniel had 24 points off as many turnovers by Hood, while the Blazers turned 21 Green Terror errors in 18 points.

Slow starts to both halves doomed Hood in the game. McDaniel opened both stanzas with identical 10-0 runs. 

A layup by Emma Winegerd put the Green Terror ahead 45-21 with 15:16 to play, but a young Hood squad continued to fight and chipped away at the lead. The Blazers trimmed 14 points off the deficit after a free throw by Brittney George (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) with 1:26 to play made it 60-50, but Hood was forced to foul down the stretch and could get no closer.

The Blazers outrebounded their opponent for the third consecutive outing, holding a 39-38 edge on the backboards.

Hood managed to 52 points against a defense that entered the game tied for 13th in Division III, allowing 49.6 points per contest.

Frostburg State visits BB&T Arena on December 21.
