Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – The Hood College men's basketball gave BB&T Arena its first 100-point game in the facility's history in a 100-89 win over visiting Lycoming in Commonwealth Conference action.
Cameron Cook (Baltimore, Md. / Calvert Hall) and Chris Cook (Mechanicsville, Va. / Lee-Davis) had 20 points apiece to lead the Blazers.
Hood went 36-of-45 from the charity stripe in the game, setting arena record for both makes and attempts.
Armani Taylor put the Warriors ahead 25-22 with a three-point field goal midway through the first half, but Cade Woody (Damascus, Md. / Damascus) answered with a three of his own for the game's seventh tie. The shot also ignited an 8-0 run that put the Blazers on top 32-27 after Chris Cook hit a three with 7:19 left in the period.
A bucket by Michael Rudy later cut it to a two-point Hood lead, 34-32, but another three by Woody started a 21-8 stretch to end the half as Hood carried a 55-40 advantage into the break.
Hood twice stretched the lead to 19 points in the opening minutes of the second half before Lycoming began to chip away at a 74-55 lead. William Wingate scored eight of his 14 points during a 24-7 run that clipped the Lycoming deficit to just 81-79 after a three by Patrick Dougher with 5:54 remaining.
With 2:12 to play, two foul shots by Jourdan Wilson pulled the Warriors to within a point of the lead, 84-83. Chris Cook sank two free throws at the other end and Cameron Cook came up with a steal and the finish to start a 16-6 run to put the game out of reach down the stretch.
Cameron Cook hit 6-of-9 field goals, including 2-of-5 from long range, and went 6-of-8 from the line. He also had three steals.
Chris Cook went 6-of-13 shooting, hit three threes, and went 5-of-7 from the line. He dished out a team-high four assists.
Asa Smith (Cheltenham, Md. / Paul VI Catholic (Va.)) and Davon Hill (Clinton, Md. / Potomac School) came off the bench for 14 points each as the Hood bench outscored its Warrior counterparts 50-23. Smith sank 4-of-7 from the field and 6-of-8 from the line and had five rebounds. Hill finished 3-of-6 shooting and 8-of-9 on free throws.
Justin Bowens (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) led Hood with seven rebounds.
Lycoming shot 51 percent in the game, with five players reaching double figures in points. Michael Rudy led the way with 17 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, including 5-of-9 from three-point range. Kevin Anthony shot 6-of-9 on his way to 16 points. Wilson, who also had six assists, and Dougher both scored 13.
Justin Miller had a game-high 11 boards.
The Blazers hit the road to face Messiah on December 11 at 8 p.m.
