Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - After pulling the upset over No. 19 Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, the Hood College women's basketball team could not find the same magic and fell to Messiah 77-40.
Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) led the Blazers with 11 points, eight rebounds, and a game-high four blocks.
The Falcons jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the opening minutes, using the long ball and hitting their first three 3-point attempts.
After Jessy Burke (Monrovia, Md. / Linganore) cut the lead to seven points at 21-14 with 7:03 left in the half, Messiah responded with a 12-3 to open up a 33-17 lead with 3:27 remaining. The Falcons maintained the lead and went into halftime with a 36-21 advantage.
Messiah opened up the second half with a 13-0 run, stretching the lead to 49-21 to take control of the game. The Falcons shot 57 percent from long range, shooting 8-of-14.
Gillian Glackin recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Taylor Miller had a game-high 16 points for Messiah. Both Chelsea Danel and Sienna Wisse added 10 points for the guests.
Brittney George (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) scored Hood's first six points of the game, and finished with seven.
The Blazers will travel to take on Stevenson on January 29, tip off is set for 6 p.m.
