Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. - Hood College's Drew Demich (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick) ran his goal scoring streak to four matches, but it was not enough at Arcadia defended its home pitch in a 3-1 final in Commonwealth Conference action.
The loss snapped the Blazers' (7-5, 2-1 Commonwealth) three-match win streak and handed them their first conference defeat of 2014.
The first half started with the squads combining for eight shots in the first 10 minutes, including six on net. After that, the defenses tightened and there were just six total shots between the sides over the remainder of a scoreless first half.
Arcadia (6-3-2, 1-0-1 Commonwealth) took the lead in the 55th minute when Nick Morris crossed to Bradley McKim to put the Knights on top 1-0. After Alex Wells doubled Arcadia's lead in the 61st minute, McKim scored his second goal of the evening two minutes later for a 3-0 advantage.
In the 68th minute, Hood drew a foul and Demich lined up for a free kick. The sophomore curved a shot over the wall and into to the top left corner of the goal to get the Blazers onto the scoreboard. The marker gave him at least one goal in four straight games, the longest streak for a Hood player since Eric Diehl scored in four straight in 2011.
It was Demich's ninth goal of the year, the fifth most in a season in Blazer program history. He also moved into fifth place on the career goal (12) and point (28, tied) lists.
Henry Mills (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) made a career-high eight saves in the match.
Seth Shoap made six stops for the Knights.
Hood will look to get back into the win column when it hosts McDaniel on October 14.
