Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - A goal by Christiano Pillari (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) midway through the second half lifted Hood to a 2-2 draw with visiting Lebanon Valley.
With the tie, Hood sits at 8-8-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the Commonwealth Conference. With three wins and a tie, the Blazers have 10 points in the conference standings, tied for third with Alvernia and Arcadia. The Crusaders play Messiah at 7 p.m., while the Knights kick off at Albright at the same time.
Both of Hood's goals tied the match. The Dutchmen scored in the 34th minute when Austin Freeman found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
The Blazers got a boost from the reserves seven minutes later. Joe Benton (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) came down the center and passed to Colin Viti (Thurmont, Md. / Catoctin) at the top left corner of the box. Viti worked past his defender with the ball and found hole between the keeper and the near post for his second goal of the year.
Barely four minutes later, the Dutchmen took the lead on an own goal and led 2-1 at the half.
In the 69th minute, Pillari fired a laser from 28 yards that found its way into the left side of the goal.
Henry Mills (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) came up with a big save in the 89th minute. Freeman got ahead on a one-on-one, but Mills came out to meet him on the left side of the box and got his body between the ball and the goal.
Hood had a chance in the 106th minute numbers, but the Blazers were whistled for offsides.
Mills finished with six saves. Cam Avery made an equal number for Lebanon Valley.
Hood outshot the Dutchmen 24-18 in the match. The Blazers had 10 shots in each and two in each extra period, while the LVC had seven in each half and matched Hood shot for shot during the extra periods.
The Blazers travel to Alvernia on Saturday, November 1 for a 4 p.m. match in the regular season finale.
