SCOUTING HOOD
The Blazers are 1-2 overall and 0-0 in the Commonwealth Conference.
Hood is led in scoring by senior Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) averaging 12 points per game, along with 13 rebounds and two blocks. Junior Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) is averaging 6.3 points a game, while tallying three assists per game. Junior Briana Lee (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) is averaging 8.3 points per game off the bench so far this season, and four rebounds as well.
LAST TIME OUT
Hood lost to Shenandoah, 75-73. The Blazers nearly completed the comeback of 15 points in the second half. Allie Appleby (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) and Wiley led Hood in scoring with 14 points apiece. Wiley also led Hood with eight rebounds, as Smith had a team-high of three assists.
SCOUTING ARCADIA
The Knights are 1-2 overall and 0-0 in the Commonwealth Conference after a 93-36 win over Baptist Bible College on Tuesday night.
Addy Crenny leads the Knights in scoring with 14.7 points per game and 13 rebounds a game as well. Samantha Caligiuri also contributes nicely for Arcadia with 10.3 points per game and a team-high 3.7 assists average. Megan Fox is a threat from beyond the arc, shooting over 57 percent on 3-pointers.
LAST MEETING
Arcadia won both matchups last year, but Hood was only outscored by three total points in both contests. Losing 59-57 on January 11, Danni Medovich finished with 14 points for the Blazers and Wiley had a double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds. In a one-point loss on February 1, Appleby led the Blazers with 14 points and Wiley collected 11 boards.
