Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Chris Cook (Mechanicsburg, Va. / Lee-Davis) and Terell Buyck (Forestville, Md. / Bishop McNamara) combined for 47 points, but mid-court heave by Travis Saltus at the buzzer lifted Arcadia to an 82-81 win over Hood College in Commonwealth Conference action.
The Blazers called a timeout with 11.4 seconds in overtime and Cook took the ball to the rim for a layup with 2.9 remaining for an 81-79 lead. The Knights inbounded to Saltus, who tossed up a shot that sank straight through the net for the game-winner.
Cook finished with a career-high 27 points on 8-of-17 shooting and an 11-of-12 day from the throw line. He dished out three assists.
Buyck ran his streak of 20-point games to three. He shouldered the scoring load in the first half with 16 points and finished the game 6-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range. Davon Hill (Clinton, Md. / Potomac School) came off the bench for 11 points and three assists. Reggie Daniels (Abingdon, Md. / Patterson Mill) scored 10 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double. Trevor Magnuski (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) added nine points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal.
Hood trailed 62-55 before a three by Magnuski chipped the deficit to four points with 5:53 on the clock. The Blazers called timeout after the score and when play resumed, Cook came up with a steal and passed the ball ahead to Magnuski for an easy two, making it a two-point game. The Knights turned the ball over again and Daniels came up with a steal that resulted in two points by Cook to tie the game at 62-62.
Arcadia immediately jumped out to a four-point advantage, but a three by Hill and a pair of free throws by Cook gave Hood its first lead of the half, 67-66 with 2:17 to play.
Buyck sank two foul shots with 1:59 remaining to put the Blazers up 69-66, but a 3-pointer by Torrell Candelaria tied the game 32 seconds later.
A Hill jumper reclaimed the lead for Hood, but Brown's bucket with 35 seconds left tied the game at 71-71 and sent things into overtime.
The Blazers never trailed in the extra period, but could not stretch their advantage past three points. Saltus hit a pair of free throws to tie the score at 79-79 with 19 seconds left to set up the dramatic finish.
Saltus led the Knights with 22 points. Brown added 16 points, while Candelaria netted 14 and John Landro scored a dozen. Candelaria grabbed a team-high nine rebounds as Arcadia held a 40-32 advantage on the glass.
Hood shot 46 percent for the floor and was 38 percent from behind the arc. At the charity stripe, the Blazers went 21-of-26 (81 percent).
The Knights were a perfect 16-of-16 on free throws.
Hood is back in action on Sunday, November 23 at Howard.
