FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) led the Blazers with 12 points and 10 rebounds, but a strong second half from Arcadia clinched the win, 70-53.

Wiley's jump shot at 13:28 tied the two teams 6-6 after the Knights had a six-point run to start the first half. She sank another layup and two free throws with 10 minutes remaining to pull Hood ahead 14-11.  

Layups from Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) and Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) kept the edge over Arcadia 20-19 for the final time, but four made free throws from Rachel Jacob and Megan Fox gave the Knights a 26-22 lead to end the half.

Arianna Delerme (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) notched a layup to begin the scoring in the second half before Arcadia's second six-point run of the game. 

3-pointers from Smith and Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) with 12:14 remaining cut Arcadia's lead 39-34.

Six made free throws from the Knights extended their lead 44-35, but foul shots from Briscoe, Smith, and Rachel Kessler (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) made it a four-point game with 7:32 on the clock.

Another run for Arcadia gave the Knights their biggest lead of the game, 60-46. A made 3-point shot from Allie Appleby (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) and two more free throws from Kessler put Hood back on the board 62-51.

The Knights sealed the win with eight free throws in the final two minutes.

Briscoe added eight points for the Blazers and Kessler had eight points, three steals, six rebounds and hit 4-of-5 free throws. Maureen Flocca led Arcadia with 21 points and made 10-of-12 free throws. 

Hood's bench outscored its counterparts 23-9.

The Blazers travel to Lebanon Valley for a conference match up on December 3.
