Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) led the Blazers with a school-record eight blocks and career-high 19 rebounds, but despite her strong defense McDaniel notched the win, 73-45.
Hood led 5-4 early in the first half with a layup from Wiley, but with 12 minutes remaining, the Green Terror went on an 11-1 run for a 25-11 lead.
A layup from Arianna Delerme (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) and a jump shot from Brittney George (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) kept the Blazers within 10 points of McDaniel, but a layup from Alyssa March started another run for the Green Terror. Kristin Histand (Charlottesville, Va. / Miller School of Albemarle) banked in a 3-pointer to end the first half, 36-22.
McDaniel had a nine-point run to start the second half, pulling away from the Blazers for good.
Allie Appleby (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) came off the bench for nine points and six rebounds and George tallied seven points. Hood's second unit out scored McDaniel's bench 30-19. Wiley also added six points and was 4-of-6 from the line. Hood outrebounded the Green Terror, 46-44.
Lindsey Nichols led McDaniel with 15 points, and March and Steph Perez added 12 points apiece. March added 11 rebounds to complete the double-double.
The Blazers take on Division II Wilmington (Del.) University on Saturday, December 20.
