Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College dropped a non-conference contest to Division II Wilmington (Del.), 84-49.
Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) came up one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. The senior blocked three shots.
The Blazers took an early 6-4 lead on a jumper by reserve Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) less than five minutes into the contest. A pair of free throws and two 3-point field goals by Tenicia Spence started a 16-4 run for the Wildcats.
Andrukat sank four free throws with six minutes remaining, pulling Hood withing seven points of Wilmington, 22-15. The Wildcats claimed the first half after a 13-point run and Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) finished the scoring with two made free throws, 39-19.
Rachel Kessler (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) added eight points and seven rebounds for the Blazers and Andrukat added eight points and was 6-of-8 from the line. Briscoe grabbed seven rebounds.
Spence led Wilmington with 19 points and was 5-of-8 in 3-point field goals. Jasmine Lee came of the bench for the Wildcats to add 13 points.
Hood travels to Orlando, Florida for the Land of Magic Tournament on December 29 and 30.
