FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's basketball team takes the court in Daytona Beach, Florida at the Land of Magic Classic on December 29 and 30. The Blazers take on Alma on the first day, with a contest against Wesleyan the following day.

SCOUTING HOOD
The Blazers are 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the Commonwealth Conference.
Senior Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) leads Hood, averaging a double-double with 10.0 points per game and 11.6 rebounds per contest, along with 19 blocked shots. Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) comes off the bench to rank second in scoring at 6.4 ppg. Junior Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) leads the team with 18 assists. Senior Rachel Kessler (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) leads the team with 17 steals and adds 6.0 ppg.
LAST TIME OUT
Hood College dropped a non-conference contest to Division II Wilmington (Del.), 84-49.
Wiley came up one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. The senior blocked three shots. Kessler added eight points and seven rebounds for the Blazers and Andrukat scored eight points and was 6-of-8 from the line. Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) grabbed seven rebounds.
SCOUTING ALMA
The Fighting Scots are 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Raeanna Zink is the leading scorer at 13.6 ppg on 47 percent shooting. Her 6.1 rebounds per game are also a team-best. Mallory Pruett scores 10.4 ppg and has 18 steals. Grace Wheeler has 21 assists on the year.
SCOUTING WESLEYAN
The Cardinals are off to a 3-4 start this season and have not begun conference play in the NESCAC.
Brenna Diggins averages a double-double with 12.3 points per game and 10.3 rpg and also has 13 blocked shots. Kaylie Williams has been limited to just two games, but chips in with 10.5 ppg. Jess Cherenza adds 8.7 rpg. Dreisen Heath leads the Cardinals with 15 assists and 13 steals on the year.
LAST MEETING
Hood has never faced either Alma or Wesleyan.
