TOWSON, Md. - Hood College could not find an answer to a goal in the 13th minute by Goucher as the Gophers held on for a 1-0 victory.

After a free kick by Sam Bloxam, Brandon Weiner fired a low shot for what proved to be the only marker for either side in the match.

Freshman Henry Mills (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) made five saves, while starting his first career game for Hood (0-1). The Blazers had two shots on goal in the contest, both by Drew Demich (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick). 

Goucher (1-0) outshot Hood 16-4, but the Blazer defense kept the majority from finding their way on net. 

Hood searches for its first victory of the year when Shenandoah visits Thomas Athletic Field on September 3 at 4:30 p.m.
