Blazers Win First Match of Season with 2-0 Shutout

ASHLAND, Va. - Hood College recorded its first win of the season with a 2-0 shutout over Randolph-Macon.

This victory marks Kenny Putnam's first as the Blazers' head coach.

Paul Windsor scored his first career goal to get Hood (1-2) on the board in the 16th minute for the only goal of the half. 

Neither team scored again until, Joe Benton (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) came through with a goal for the Blazers. The insurance goal lifted Hood to a 2-0 victory.

Ryan Deuber (Timonium, Md. / Dulaney) made four saves for his first shutout of the season.

Randolph-Macon's (1-3) goalkeeper, CJ Montalbano, made four saves.

Shot were fairly even for both sides, with Randolph-Macon holding a slim edge, 13-12.

Hood's next match takes place at Penn St.-Harrisburg on September 16.
