MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Hood College dropped a Commonwealth Conference game 69-46 at Messiah.

Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) led the Blazers with 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting and 2-of-5 from 3-point range. Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) had a career-high 10 rebounds for Hood and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) added eight points, and Brittney George (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) and Allie Appleby (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) scored seven apiece. Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) had a career-high five steals and three assists.

The Blazers hung with the Falcons early in the first half as Hood had a six-point run to tie the score at 6-6 after a layup from Wiley with 14:22 to play. A layup from George gave the Blazers a 13-10 lead with 9:18 remaining.

Messiah took control as Sienna Wisse had eight points in a 20-10 run that gave the Falcons a 30-23 halftime lead.

Hood was unable to cut into the Falcons' lead in the second half.

The Blazers shot 77 percent from the foul line (17-of-22).

Kaitlyn Hoff had 17 points and went 10-of-11 from the line for the Falcons. Gillian Glackin had 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Wisse had 12 points and Deanna Eyerkuss added eight assists.

The Blazers take on Arcadia on the road at 1 p.m. on January 24.
