Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. - Senior Chris Cook (Mechanicsville, Va. / Lee-Davis) scored a career-high 32 points - his third 30-point game of the season, but Johns Hopkins defended its home floor in an 82-73 win the title game of the Blue Jay Invitational.
Cook and Reggie Daniels (Abingdon, Md. / Patterson Mill) were selected to the all-tournament team.
Cook hit 11-of-19 field goals, 3-of-6 3-point field goals and all seven of his free throw attempts to finish just four points shy of the tournament record. He was the only Blazer in double figures, but Daniels sank all three of his 3-point attempts and grabbed eight rebounds. Trevor Magnuski (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) also had eight rebounds and added three assists and two steals. Davon Hill (Clinton, Md. / Potomac School) passed out five assists and had a pair of steals. James Brown (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Country Day) came off the bench for nine points.
Early in the second half, a three by Daniels put Hood on top 42-38 and the Blazers still led 44-41 after a Luke Casey (Nanticoke, Pa. / Crestwood) lay up with 15:34 remaining. A jumper by George Bugarinovic and a 3-pointer by Austin Vasiliadis erased the lead and gave the Blue Jays a 46-44 advantage. Hood would tie the game at 47-47 after a three-point play by Cook with 14 minutes left, but Johns Hopkins reclaimed the lead for the next five minutes. Hill hit a pair of free throws that knotted the teams at 54-54 with 8:12 to play.
Luke Chambers scored to start an 11-0 run for the Blue Jays that resulted in a 65-54 lead after a Jimmy Hammer lay up at the 3:25 mark.
Johns Hopkins led 36-35 at the half.
The Blazers shot 45 percent from the field and knocked down 8-of-20 3-point field goals (40 percent). Hood was 13-of-15 (87 percent) at the free throw line.
The Blue Jays had 23 assists on 25 made field goals and shot 47 percent from the field. They were 11-of-28 from behind the arc (39 percent) and 21-of-27 at the line (78 percent).
Hammer hit four threes and led the team with 19 points and six assists. Bugarinovic added 16 points and Omar Randall scored a dozen.
