Blazers Fall to First Place Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Hood College dropped a 96-78 final in Commonwealth Conference men's basketball action.

Chris Cook (Mechanicsville, Va. / Lee-Davis) had his tenth game of at least 20 points this year, scoring a team-high 22. The senior guard hit 6-of-12 field goals, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range. He tied for the team lead with a career-high eight rebounds and had three assists. 

Freshman Luke Casey (Nanticoke, Pa. / Crestwood) matched Cook's eight rebounds and added three blocks and two steals. Tanner Ruths (Stephens City, Va. / Sherando) had three steals. 

Lycoming's Issak Bodon had 21 of his game-high 24 points in the first half, hitting 6-of-7 3-point attempts. Four of his threes came in the span of six possessions and within three minutes of each other as the Warriors built a commanding first half lead. 

In the second half, Lycoming continuted to stretch its lead and put the game well out of reach before Hood closed the game with a 36-14 run over the final 11 minutes. 

Alex Newbold went 6-of-7 shooting and finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Patrick Dougher added 13 points. Nykolas King dished out six assists. Lycoming's bench accounted for 53 points in the game.

The Warriors shot 50 percent in the game (32-of-64) and went 11-of-18 (61 percent) on 3-point field goals. 

Hood shot 76 percent (19-of-25) from the free throw line. 

The Blazers host Alvernia on February 7.
