Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's defense picked up its third straight shutout with a 2-0 win over visiting Stevenson.
The clean sheet Joe Centeno's (Mount Airy, Md. / Linganore) fifth of the year, tying the Hood single season record. He was credited with five saves in the match.
Centeno's shutout mark was not the only school record tied. The Hood offense tied the single season records for goals (46), assists (33) and points (125).
Christiano Pillari (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) put the Blazers ahead in the 14th minute. The ball was played ahead towards the left side of the box and the junior stopped it with his chest, side-stepped a defender to the inside and boomed it home for his second goal of the year.
Hood extended the lead in the opening minutes of the second half. Mitchell Mattox (Pasadena, Md. / Chesapeake) crossed the ball over the defense to Juliano Pillari (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North), who sent it to the middle. Romo Monarrez (Guadalajara, Mexico / West Nottingham Adacemy {Md.}) headed it home for his fifth score of the year in the 53rd minute.
Stevenson applied pressure with four shots on goal after Hood took a two-goal lead. Centeno turned all four attempts away, including three in a span of three minutes from the 76th minute into the 78th minute.
Ryan Callinan stopped four shots for the Mustangs.
Hood will look to stay in the win column on Saturday, October 17 at Widener. Opening kick is set for 7:30 p.m.
