CHESTER, Pa. - Widener scored in the ninth minute and made it stand to defeat Hood College, 1-0, in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.

Tori Remondelli took an assist from Ross Staudt and Zac Furia and scored for a 1-0 Pride lead. 

The Blazers' defense tightened and Joe Centeno (Mount Airy, Md. / Linganore) turned away the only other two shots on goal he faced on the evening. 

Hood's best chance to tie came in the first half when Romo Monarrez (Guadalajara, Mexico / West Nottingham Academy (Md.)) put a shot on net that was stopped by David Sousa. 

The loss dropped Hood to 11-5 overall and made both sides 2-2 in the conference. 

Alvernia visits Thomas Athletic Field on October 20.
