WASHINGTON, D.C. - Hood College junior Drew Demich (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick) overcame downpours and a lightning delay to notch his second career hat trick in a 3-0 win at Gallaudet. 

Demich's three-goal effort was the second of his career. The three goals tie the Hood single match record and he joins Tom Noonan as the only Blazers to turn in more than one career hat trick.

Early in the 14th minute, with the teams still scoreless, the game was halted for over an hour due to lightning in the area. 

Once play resumed, Demich uncorked a shot into the right side for a 1-0 lead late in the 20th minute. He added a second goal before the intermission to extend the Blazer lead to 2-0. Juliano Pillari (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) set up Demich for a 20-yard blast into the center of the goal in the 36th minute.

Demich iced the game in the 89th minute. Pillari took a corner and Elmer Diaz (Damascus, Md. / Damascus) touched it to Demich, who headed it into the lower left corner of the goal.

In addition to Demich's three goals, Pillari had two assists and Diaz notched one. 

Thanks to Hood's backline of Chris Sloan (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson), Robert Ellerson (Cream Ridge, N.J. / Allentown), Kyle Shields (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown) and Kyle Bulgarelli (York, Pa. / York Suburban), goalkeeper Joe Centeno (Mount Airy, Md. / Linganore) was untested en route to his first shutout for the Blazers.

It was the first meeting between the sides since 2009, the Bison's last season before restarting their program this season.

Eric Seltzer made eight saves for Gallaudet.

Hood will look to stay in the win column on Sunday, September 13 at St. Vincent. Kick off is set for 2 p.m.
