Demich, Blazers Set Records Against Penn State Mont Alto

Box Score

FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Drew Demich (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick) set the single game goal scoring record to lead the Blazers to a record-setting 15-0 win over Penn State Mont Alto.

Demich scored four goals, breaking the previous record of three, held by several players. His eight points tied Tom Noonan's Hood standard. The four-goal afternoon moved him into second place all-time for the Blazers with 24 goals scored. The effort places him atop the Division III ledger for goals scored heading into the weekend.

As a team, Hood's 15 goals, 39 points, and nine assists all set new school records. The previous highs of 10 goals, 28 points, and eight assists were all set at Gallaudet in September 2007.

Danny Battle (Parkton, Md./ Hereford) recorded three goals and an assist, giving him seven overall points, only one point from matching the school record. Colin Viti (Thurmont, Md./ Catoctin) also added two goals and two assists for an overall six points.

Hood had two goals from Romo Monarrez (Guadalajara, Mexico/ West Nottingham Academy). Joe Benton (Mechanicsburg, Pa./ Cumberland Valley) had a goal and two assists. Alec van Bronkhorst (Gaithersburg, Md./ Watkins Mill), Kyle Shields (Middletown, Pa/ Middletown), and Lealand Creadick (Myersville, Md./ Middletown) each added a goal.

Juliano Pillari (Toms River, N.J./ Toms River North), Jared Knowles (Pine Beach, N.J./ Toms River South), Elmer Diaz (Damascus, Md./ Damascus), and Anthony Maglino (Cranford, N.J./ Cranford) each added an assist.

Joe Centeno (Mount Airy, Md./ Linganore) started in goal for the Blazers and had one save in 29 minutes of action. Stephen Friend (Bel Air, Md./ St. Peter (Minn.)) played the next 47 minutes for Hood in goal. Victor Muleki (Irving, Texas/ MacArthur) finished the last 14 minutes in goal for the Blazers.

Hood, winners of three straight, looks to stay hot as they host Rosemont September 19. Game is slated to start at 12 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
