Men's Soccer Can't Solve Mary Washington

Box Score

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Hood's season-opening two-game win streak came to an end with a 1-0 loss to Mary Washington at the UMW Soccer Classic.

The Eagles' Riley Fisher scored the game's only goal in the 16th minute with an assist from Conor Nogueira.

After tallying just two shots in the first half, the Blazer offense began to find its groove late as they tried to tie the contest. Hood had nine total shots in the second half, including five on net. Three of the shots on goal came in the final 12 minutes as the Blazers battled to the end.

Joe Centeno (Mount Airy, Md. / Linganore) made five saves in goal for Hood.

Matt Spencer saved six shots on his way to the shutout.

Hood's 2-1 start to the season is its best since starting the 2012 season 2-0-2.

The Blazers look to get back into the win column on September 9 at Shenandoah.
