FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College fell 80-42 in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth women's basketball to visiting Messiah.

Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) led the Blazers with 11 points, hitting 3-of-8 3-point field goals. Allie Appleby (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) grabbed seven rebounds. Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) had four assists. 

Hood trailed just 11-7 after Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) scored with five minutes, 11 seconds to go in the first quarter, but Alecia Rohrer started a 12-3 run for the Falcons. Messiah added another 20-6 run in the second quarter for a 43-18 lead at the half.

Rohrer came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting for Messiah. She blocked five shots. Jen Fairbanks added 17 points. Gillian Glackin posted 12 rebounds. Libby Timmer's passing led to five assists. 

Hood travels to Stevenson on January 20 at 6 p.m.
