Men's Soccer Takes First MAC Commonwealth Loss Against Dutchmen

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's soccer team fell 1-0 to visiting Lebanon Valley College in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.

Inside the Box Score

  • Danny Castillo made four saves in goal for the Blazers. 
  • The Blazers held a 21-8 advantage on shots, including 10-3 in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net. 

How it Happened

  • Cameron Alexander was on the receiving end of a cross at 13' and chipped it high into the goal for a 1-0 lead. The goal proved to be the difference in the game. 
  • Early in the second half, Clay Smith had a chance one-on-one with the keeper, but Cam Avery closed the angle and the shot rolled wide. 
  • In the 68th minute, Drew Demich had a try that sailed just over the crossbar. 
  • Hood had perhaps its best chance at the equalizer in the 89th minute when Ryan Tutzauer got a touch in close front of net and uncorked a shot. Avery managed to react quickly enough to make the stop. 

Notes

  • Both teams hold identical records of 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the MAC Commonwealth. 
  • Avery made seven saves to pick up the shutout.
