Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Juliano Pillari and Clay Smith each tied a record on the Blazers' final goal in a 5-1 victory over visiting Gallaudet in non-conference men's soccer.
Pillari tied the career assist record on the score, while Smith's finish tied the school record for goals by a freshman.
Inside the Box Score
- Pillari assisted on Hood's final goal for the 19th assist of his career, tying Tom Noonan and Marcelino Rabara for the school record.
- The assist came on a goal by Smith, the 11th of the season by the freshman. It tied Guillame Farges for the most by a Blazer freshman. Smith finished the day with two goals scored.
- Drew Demich, Anthony Maglino and Kahembi Mukuwa also scored. For Mukuwa, it was his first career score and turned out to be the game-winner.
- Brandon Feuerherd, Ryan Tutzauer and Colin Viti had assists.
- Christian Reyes played the first 66 minutes in goal for Hood. Victor Muleki made one save in the remaining 24 minutes.
How it Happened
- Barely a minute into the match, Maglino took a feed from Tutzauer and banged it off the far post for a 1-0 lead.
- Mukuwa made it a two-goal lead in the 33rd minute. He fought through numerous defenders to collect the ball and sent it to the far post for what proved to be the game-winner.
- Smith scored his first of the afternoon in the 40th minute. Feuerherd sent a cross from left to right and Smith headed it home to make it 3-0 at the half.
- While Hood struck quickly in the first half, the Bison scored nearly as quickly to begin the second half. Roel Gutierrez scored in the 47th minute to cut the Blazers' lead to 3-1.
- Later in the half, Hood scored twice in the span of four minutes to seal the victory. In the 70th minute, Viti crossed the ball to Demich right in front of net. Demich scored his 12th of the year for a 4-1 edge.
- Pillari and Smith connected for their record tying goal in the 74th minute as Smith scored his second goal of the match.
Notes
- Hood improved to 10-4 on the year, just the second time in program history that the Blazers have reached double digit wins. The first was last season, when Hood won a school record 12 matches.
- Gallaudet dropped to 5-11-1.
- Noah Means-Simonsen made seven saves for the Bison.
