Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Despite 17 points and five 3-pointers from Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale), Hood College fell in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play to Arcadia, 76-64.
McGaughey went 5-of-13 from 3-point range, tied for the sixth most 3-pointers in a game in Blazer history. Allie Appleby (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) went 3-of-6 from the field and 4-of-5 at the free throw line for 10 points. She added five assists. Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) grabbed seven rebounds.
Hood trailed early, 15-8, but Arianna Delerme (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Twp.) sank a jump shot with three minutes, 51 seconds left in the first quarter to start an 11-4 run. Two free throws by Appleby pulled the Blazers within 17-16 entering the second quarter. Down 19-16, Imani Parrish (Brandywine, Md. / Gwynn Park) converted a 3-point play for her first career points to tie things up with 8:51 left in the half. Hood tied the score again on an Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) lay up that made it 21-21 with 6:07 remaining.
The Knights regrouped and closed the quarter with a 16-2 run for a 37-23 lead at halftime.
Arcadia stretched the lead to 16 early in the second half, but McGaughey knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to pull Hood within 39-29 with 7:55 to go in the third. The Knights scored the next nine points to put the game out of reach.
Addy Crenny had 19 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots. Olivia Roseman added 13 points and Imani Alston added 10 points and six assists. Camille Menns tallied 11 boards.
For Hood, Parrish was a perfect 3-of-3 from the field on her way to her first seven career points.
Arcadia shot 49 percent, including 54 percent in the second half.
Hood travels to Alvernia on Wednesday, February 3 for a 6 p.m. tip off.
