Box Score

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Hood College and Lycoming traded first half runs, but it was the Warriors who were able to carry momentum into the second half for a 62-55 win in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play.

In addition to Ruiz's big day from 3, Hill went 2-of-3 as the Blazers hit 12-of-27 3-pointers as a team (44 percent).

The Blazers opened the game with a 20-4 run, at one point holding Lycoming scoreless for over 10 minutes. Calvin Chandler ended the drought with a 3 with eight minutes and 25 seconds left in the half to make it 20-7 in favor of Hood. The shot started a run for the Warriors, who outscored the Blazers 22-4 over the remainder of the first half. A 3-pointer by David Johnson in the closing seconds gave Lycoming a 26-25 edge at halftime.

Once play resumed, neither team scored for over three minutes. A Wegener lay up started the second half scoring and made it 27-26 in favor of the Blazers with 16:36 to play. It was the first of eight leads changes or ties in the second half. Hood took a 36-34 lead on Michael Robinson's (Upper Marlboro, Md. / Pallotti) 3-pointer with 9:40 on the game clock, but Willie Kee went to the free throw line in each of the Warriors' next two possessions. The guard knocked down all four free throws to give Lycoming the lead for good, 38-36, with 9:22 to play.

Kee had a game-high 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting and was a perfect 7-of-7 mark at the free throw line. David Johnson was 6-of-6 at the line on his way to 14 points. Lycoming went 20-of-24 at the free throw line as a team (83 percent).

Hood outrebounded the Warriors 32-29, but were undone by 28 turnovers.

The loss dropped the Blazers to 12-11 overall and 6-8 in the MAC Commonwealth. The latter places Hood one game behind Widener and Stevenson, who are tied for the fifth and final conference tournament spot with two games to play.

The Blazers host Stevenson on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m.
