Undefeated Start Ends in Double Overtime

TOWSON, Md. - A goal in the 102nd minute by Goucher ended Hood College's 4-0 start as the Gophers defended their home field, 3-2.

Juliano Pillari assisted on both of the Blazers' goals to move into third place in the Hood record book with 17. 

Hood was off to its first 4-0 start in school history, but its current 4-1 mark is the best since the 2004 team started 8-1. 

Goucher took a 2-1 lead in the 74th minute, but the advantage lasted just 33 seconds. Drew Demich scored his seventh goal of the season, and 43rd of his career, to tie the game. 

The two teams remained knotted at 2-2 until Evan Phillips put a corner kick into the box where Andrew Marcantonio headed it in for the game winner in the 102nd minute. 

Hood led 1-0 in the 21st minute, when Clay Smith took a long pass from Pillari and scored his fifth goal of the year. 

The Gophers tied the score eight minutes later on a goal by Brandon Cohen. Mario Murica scored to put Goucher ahead in the 74th minute off an assist from Marcantonio. 

Danny Castillo played the entire game in net for Hood, making three saves. 

The Blazers held a commanding 33-9 advantage on shots, but Gopher keeper Daniel Hendry was up to the task. He finished with a 19 saves. 

Hood hosts Rowan on September 14 at 4 p.m.
