FREDERICK, Md. - A second half goal by Alec van Bronkhorst lifted the Hood College men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over visiting St. Vincent on Senior Day for the Blazers.

• Christiano Pillari and Kyle Bulgarelli were credited with assists on van Bronkhorst's goal. 
• Danny Castillo picked up his first career shutout, making five saves.
• Hood held a 22-8 advantage on shots. 

Game Recap

• The teams were scoreless into the second half, when Hood was awarded a free kick in the 66th minute. Pillari sent the ball to the far post where Bulgarelli headed it back into the middle. van Bronkhorst was waiting and knocked it home for what proved to be the game-winner.
• The Bearcats had a chance to tie in the 76th minute. Sebastian Lambert, fresh off the bench, ripped a shot that Castillo made a diving save to keep out of the net.

• The Blazers celebrated Senior Day before the start of they match. The 11 seniors honored were Stephen Friend, Kyle Shields, Christiano Pillari, Juliano Pillari, Drew Demich, Colin Viti, Ryan Tutzauer, Elmer Diaz, Joe Benton, Kahembi Mukuwa and Victor Muleki. 
• Nick Bohn stopped eight shots for St. Vincent. 
• Hood improved to 6-2 with the victory.
