Women’s soccer scores early, late in Senior Day win

FREDERICK, Md. -  Hood College scored one of the fastest goals in school history, but needed a score by Priya Nair in the 95th minute to defeat Eastern University 4-3 in the Blazers' first Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth contest of the year.

Inside the Box Score How it Happened
  • Just 57 seconds into the first half, the Blazers took a 1-0 lead over the Eagles with House's first. It was the fifth-fastest goal in program history. 
  • Five minutes later, Hood extended its lead with another House goal coming from an assist by Nair.
  • The Eagles cut the deficit in half when Jenna Linstra found the back of the net with an assist by Cassie Avenick.
  • Eastern tied the score 2-2 after a goal by Sydney Koncsol with an assist by Lauryn Laning early in the 40th minute.
  • Coming out of the halftime break, Eastern's Avenik capitalized off a free kick to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead.
  • The Blazers answered back after Swartz buried a shot in the 61st minute.
  • In overtime, Painter slid the ball to Nair, who buried the shot for the game-winner.
Senior Day Analysis 
  • Hood edged Eastern 6-5 in corner kicks but was outshot by the Eagles 18-11.
For the Opponent 
  • Avenick and Laning each finished with a goal and an assist.
  • Eastern's Emily Honig registered two saves.
Notes 
  • The Blazers snapped Eastern's four-match winning streak.
  • Hood moved their record to 3-6-1 on the year. 
  • The Eagles slipped to 5-4-1 overall.
