Valorant sweeps matches in esports this week, keeping their win streak alive


FREDERICK, MD - The Hood College valorant team won both of their games last week not allowing a loss in either match, defeating Limestone University and Molloy College. 

Valorant: Hood 2, Limestone 0 / Hood 2, Molloy 0
  • The Hood College valorant team won both matches last week defeating Limestone University and Molloy College. 
Hood 2, Limestone University 0
  • Hood won game one in 31 minutes and 38 seconds on Bind. Hunter Nelson (SN lilsmudge) led all players with 20 kills adding four assists. Kadin Saleh (Damascus, MD/Damascus) (ohkdin) recorded 12 kills and added eight spike plants. Caulten Cleveland (Bear, DE/First State Military Academy) (kcep) also recorded 12 kills and added 12 assists which led the Blazers. Three Blazers scored a defuse on the bomb in the match to help secure a game one win 13-3.    
  • The Blazers took control in game two to finish the match in 39 minutes and 38 seconds on Haven. All Blazer players recorded double digits in kills, led by Nelson which recorded 17 kills. Owen Paolicelli (North East, MD/North East) (Efxts) and Jared Edmundson (Elkton, Md/Rising Sun) (FR33Z3) each had 16 kills, adding up 15 assists between both. Saleh added seven more spike plants, which gave him 15 total plants on the match overall. The game win secured a 13-7 result, which also secured the overall match win over Limestone University. 
Hood 2, Molloy College 0 
  • Hood won game one in 39 minutes and 21 seconds on Split. Edmundson led all players with 23 kills adding seven assists. Nelson recorded 19 kills and added five first bloods in the game. Cleveland and Paolicelli also scored 15 kills each and added 15 assists between both players which led the Blazers. This game resulted in a 13-9 game one win to put the Blazers ahead in the match.    
  • The Blazers took control in game two to finish the match in 44 minutes and 9 seconds on Breeze. All Blazer players recorded double digits in kills, led by Nelson who recorded 37 kills which is a season best for the Blazers. Saleh added 21 kills and nine spike plants in the game. Paolicelli finished with 14 kills and six assists, while JP Wiemann (Centreville, VA/Westfield) (jpwiemann) recorded 13 kills. The Blazers finished defeating Molloy 14-12 to cap off a match sweep over Molloy College. 
Valorant's next matchup is against New York Tech on Thursday, November 18.

 
Overwatch: Hood 3, College of Staten Island 2 / Hood 3, Pittsburg State 0 
  • The Hood College overwatch team defeated College of Staten Island and Pittsburg State University, totalling a score of 6-2 to finish conference play.

  • In game one, the overwatch team won on Nepal in 10 minutes and 36 seconds. Three Blazers scored top finishes to help secure a game one win. Gavin Turowski (Farmingdale, NY/Plainedge) (The Plague) led the team in healing with 15,553, and took 41% of team damage for CSI. Jack Carr (Mount Airy, MD/Urbana) (Skyfire) recorded 18 objective kills, adding to a 26 kill round. Kayla Meistrell (Califon, NJ/Vorhees) (YoungSnail) led the team in total kills with 28, and totalled a 67% kill participation. The Blazers led in three out of the top four highlighted players in game one.
  • In game two, the overwatch team was defeated on King's Row in 13 minutes and 59 seconds. CSI led the match in three out of the four statistical leads. Tommy O'Neill (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) (Percival) scored 15,594 hero damage, and took 30% of CSI's health in the game. CSI would tie things up at one game a piece. 
  • In game three, the overwatch team would draw against CSI on Hanamura in 18 minutes and 8 seconds. In the game two Blazers scored high ranks with O'Neill scoring 20,342 hero damage and took 31% of CSI's health. Carr recorded 18 frozen enemy points. This game would keep the match tied at two games each. Game four would be the winner taking all game for the match. 
  • In game four, the overwatch team won on Lijiang Tower in 12 minutes and 42 seconds. O'Neill again would lead the Blazers to the victory scoring 19,040 hero damage and taking 32% of the opposing team's health. This game would end up deciding the match for the Blazers as they would win 3-2 against CSI.   
Hood 3, Pittsburg State 0
  • In game one, the overwatch team won on Lijiang Tower in 6 minutes and 3 seconds. Three Blazers scored two three finishes in game one. Kris Kaarid (Frederick, MD/Urbana) (Pyroia) recorded 6,670 healing done, and took 38% of Pittsburg State's health damage in the game. O'Neill added 32 kills, and added a 67% kill participation in the game. Turowski scored 23 assists and 48% kill participation to help lead the Blazers to a 1-0 lead in the match.
  • In game two, the overwatch team won on King's Row in 7 minutes and 24 seconds. The second game of the match the Blazers held three out of four statistical leads. Kaarid scored 9,026 healing, and took 45% of the opposing team's health. Meistrall had 29 high energy kills, totalling 35 kills overall in the game. Lydia Kazakavage (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) (FVXI) held a 2:42 objective time to help Overwatch take a commanding 2-0 lead over PSU. 
  • In game three, the overwatch team won on Route 66 in 6 minutes and 3 seconds. Kaarid led in healing with 7,137, and took 31% of PSU's team health. Turowski led the Blazers with a kill streak of 24 kills, leading him to 28 kills in the game. Carr recorded 27 assists on defense with a 63% kill participation. Overwatch would secure a dominating 3-0 victory over Pittsburg State University. 
Overwatch's next matchup is against Southern New Hampshire University on Friday, November 19.

Rocket League: Hood 3, D'Youville College 0 / Hood 3, Lebanon Valley College (Blue) 1
  • The Hood College Rocket League team were victorious in both of their matches this week, heading into playoffs in the NECC.
Hood 3, D'Youville 0
  • The Blazers won 4-1, 6-0 and 3-2.
  • In game one, Luke Sisco (Frederick, MD/Frederick) (ALLCAPS101) led in goals, netting two. Nate Burnett (Westminster, MD/Westminster) (natertot) and Sam Driscoll (Woodsboro, MD/Walkersville) (slammin18) each added a goal to help Hood take the first game.
  • In game two, Driscoll recorded three goals, while Burnett added two goals. Sisco scored a goal and added two assists to help the Blazers take control of this match. 
  • In game three, Burnett recorded two out of three goals, Sisco scoring the other one. In a defensive game for the Blazers they took care of business to sweep D'Youville College 3-0.
Hood 3, LVC (Blue) 1
  • The Blazers won 0-2, 1-0, 3-2, 2-1.
  • In game one, LVC won a 2-0 game with defense to go up in the match 1-0. 
  • In game two, Hood would take a close 1-0 game to tie the match up going into game three. Burnett scored the only goal in the game, and Driscoll assisted on the goal. 
  • In game three, the Blazers won a defensively dominated game 3-2 to pull ahead in the match only needing one more victory to pull off the win. Driscoll scored two goals for the Blazers and Sisco a goal to his credit. 
  • In game four, Driscoll and Burnett scored the only goals of the game to give Hood the upset victory over LVC 3-1. 
Rocket League is back in action in a ECC matchup against Molloy College on Monday, November 15.
