READING, Pa. - The twin brother combination of
Mason Wang and
Evan Wang combined 59 points as the Hood College men's basketball team picked up its fifth-straight win, 86-71 at Albright in a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth contest.

- Mason Wang finished with a game- and season-high 39 points on 13-of-20 shooting. He knocked down 7-of-12 behind the 3-point line to become just the second Blazer with over 200 career 3-points. The senior reached another milestone in the contest, becoming the third player in the program history with over 1,500 career points. In addition to this scoring exploits, Wang added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals to his afternoon.
- Evan Wang hit his first five field goals on his way to a 20-point day. He led the team with eight rebounds and five assists; and matched his brother's three steals. He passed Tim Abercrombie in the game for seventh place on the school's all-time scoring list and tied Sean Robine for fifth in 3-point field goals (144).
- Jack Fricka came off the bench to score a career-high 10 points on 3-for-4 shooting.
How it Happened
- Mason Wang scored 10 points in the final five minutes and 36 seconds of the first half as Hood turned a one-point deficit into a 45-39 halftime lead.
- The senior came out firing again in the second half, scoring 10 of his 22 second half points in the first five minutes after play resumed. It was part of a larger 17-9 run for the Blazers that resulted in a 61-48 advantage with 13:58 on the clock.
- The Lions pulled within eight points on two foul shots by Isaiah Harris with 12:21 remaining to make it a 61-53 game. Evan Wang was fouled on a 3-point attempt just over a minute later and pushed the lead back into double figures for good.
- Zyon Grant knocked down a 3-point field goal to make it a 70-60 spread but Mason Wang answered with a 3-pointer of his own to spark a 10-3 run for Hood. Wang scored eight straight points over the four-minute stretch as the Blazers went ahead 80-63 on a bucket by Fricka with 2:22 left.
- Hood scored the game's first eight points, but Albright battled back to take a 20-19 lead after a 3-pointer by Eric Chamberlain at 9:21 of the first half. The two teams traded leads four more times before a 7-2 run from Albright gave the Lions a 30-26 edge with 5:59 to go in the half.
Analysis
- Hood shot 48 percent in the game, while holding Albright to just 38 percent.
- The Blazers went 12-of-29 from 3-point distance (41 percent) and the Lions were slightly better at 13-for-31 (42 percent).
- While Albright had a strong performance from behind the arc, the Lions went just 9-for-27 inside the arc (33 percent), resulting in the Blazers holding a 32-16 advantage in scoring in the paint.
- Hood won the rebounding battle 41-34.
- The Blazers committed just 14 turnovers and used 13 steals on Albright's 18 miscues to hold a 29-13 advantage in points off turnovers.
For the Opponent
- Sidney Brown was the Lions' top scorer with 16 points, one more than Grant. Brown added a game-high four steals.
- Guerrero had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Notes
- Hood's five-game win streak increases the Blazers' record to 6-2 on the season. The 3-0 start in MAC Commonwealth play is the first since Hood joined the league before the 2012-13 season. The Blazers last won three in a row to start conference play in the 2009-10 season in the Capital Athletic Conference.
- Albright slipped to 2-5 and 0-3 in the conference.
