FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's basketball team held Notre Dame of Maryland to 30 percent shooting as the Blazers picked up a 73-53 win in non-conference action.

How it Happened
- The Blazers took a seven-point lead as the Gators were held off the scoreboard for almost four minutes to start the game. Jenna Davis-Hans led the Blazers with seven of her 17 points in the period. A 3-pointer by Newson in the final minute gave Hood a 19-7 lead to end the quarter.
- Hood continued to build its lead in the second quarter. Newson hit a pair of foul shots with 1:10 left to give the Blazers their biggest lead of the half at 32-15 before settling for a 14-point edge at the half, 32-18.
- Hood led by 17 in the third quarter before a six-point spurt by the Gators pulled them within 44-33 on a Bethani Newbold layup with 2:22 left in the quarter. Four different players scored down the stretch for the Blazers and a layup by Brenna Ellenberger with 33 seconds remaining grew the lead to 19, 52-33.
- The momentum of the eight-point run to end the third quarter carried over to the final period with the Blazers going on a 14-4 run to open the fourth. Tiffany Manning capped the run with a layup and the and-one to make it 66-37 with 7:05 to go. The Gator's Ayana Brim started an 8-0 run with 2:45 left of the game, but the damage was already done.
