Women's lacrosse falls in MAC Commonwealth Quarterfinals

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's lacrosse team lost 15-3 against No. 13 York College of Pennsylvania in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Championships quarterfinals.

  • Laura Skorobatsch, Jess Lyons and MacKenzi Wright each scored one goal for the Blazers. 
  • Lyons had two ground balls, won one draw control, had one caused turnover, notched one assist and scored two points. 
  • Skorobatsch recorded five draw controls and scored one point.

How it Happened
  • The Spartans started the scoring with a goal from Teresa Matthias assisted by Celly Arthur at 27 minutes and four seconds in the first half and went on to score 10 more goals until 2:55 left in the first. 
  • Lyons got Hood on the board with an unassisted goal with 2:55 left in the first. Wright followed the scoring an unassisted goal with 19 seconds left in the first half to make the score 11-2. 
  • The Blazers' Skorobatsch scored a man-up goal assisted from Lyons with 21:03 left in the second half cutting the deficit to 11-3. 
  • York went on the score the final four goals of the game to win 15-3. 
Analysis
  • The Spartans had a 13-7 advantage in draw controls. 
  • YCP outshot the Hood 36-17.  
For the Opposition 
  • Chloe MacDonald led the Spartans with four goals scored, tallying three draw controls. 
  • Kiersten Blanchard and Arthur scored three goals apiece. Arthur added four assists. 
  • Riley DiFiore made four saves in the first half and Bella Garabo sopped two in the second half.

  • This completes the women's lacrosse season in the MAC Commonwealth spring season.
