FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Meghan Moir (Howell, NJ/Howell) and Caroline Roberts (Elkton, MD/North East) scored two goals apiece to lead the Hood College women's soccer team to its first win of the season, a 7-1 victory over Marymount (Va.).

• In addition to multi-goal games from Moir and Roberts, Priya Nair (Falls Church, VA/George C. Marshall), Ava Swartz (Laurel, MD/Atholton), and Meaghan Slattery (Mount Airy, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) scored one goal apiece.
• Colby Painter (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg), Roberts and Nair each dished out an assist.
• Gabi Dolan (Quarryville, PA/Solanco) registered two saves in 61 minutes, while Brenna Ellenberger (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) recorded three saves in relief.

How it Happened

• The Saints got the scoring started early with an unassisted score by Laney Placido in the ninth minute.
• The Blazers erased the early deficit behind the play of Roberts, who played a role in all three of Hood's first half goals.
• The first-year tied the match in the 14th minute and assisted on Moir's game- winner in the 27th minute.
• Roberts took an assist from Painter to make it 3-1 at halftime.
• In the 55th minute Nair found the back of the net shooting from outside the box for a 4-1 lead.
• Nair assisted Moir's second goal of the season in the 65th minute.
• Swartz converted a penalty kick to make it 6-1 before Slattery capped the scoring in the 76th minute.

Analysis 

• Hood outshot the Saints 27-8 and led 5-1 in corner kicks.  

For the Opponent 

• Marymount's Jenna Abaza made five saves.
• Placido scored the lone goal for the Saints.

Notes 

• This win was head coach Molly Kovariks' first with the Blazers since arriving on campus in December 2020.
• Hood's seven goals were the most since an 8-0 win over St. Vincent in 2019.
• Hood moved their record to 1-5-1 on the year. 
• The Saints slipped to 1-6 overall.
