FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's swimming team opened the 2022-23 season with a tri-meet against Goucher College and Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Stevenson University that resulted in a split for the Blazers.

- The Blazers defeated Goucher 98-92 and fell to Stevenson 139-62.
Top Three Finishes
- Andrea Kassa (Monongahela, PA/Ringgold) earned a first place finish in the 200-yard free in 2:05.47 and second place in the 100-yard fly in 1:06.56.
- Ridley Little (Bristol, VA/Virginia) swam a 12:36.60 in the 1000-yard free for a second place finish.
- In the 200-yard IM, Melissa Jacobs (Calvert County, MD/Calvert) placed second by swimming a 2:35.47.
- Olivia Menusan (Frederick, MD/Urbana) placed third in the 100-yard back in 1:08.32.
- Jordan Taylor (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra Area) swam a 28.19 in the 50-yard free for third place.
- The 200-yard medley relay team of Danielle Pong (Chambersburg, PA/Mercersburg Academy), Jacobs, Menusan and Kassa swam a 2:05.45 for a third place finish.
- In the 200-yard freestyl relay, the squad of Nina Goddyn (Bussy-les-Daours, France/United World College Red Cross Nordic - Norway), Molly Cronin (Ellicott City, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti), Grace Winpigler (Mount Airy, MD/Linganore) and Taylor finished in 1:59.27 to place third.

- The Blazers improve to 1-1 (0-1) on the season.

The men's swimming team will be back in the water on Saturday, Oct. 29 when they head to Gratham, Pa. for a quad-meet with Kings College, Widener University and host Messiah University for a MAC clash.
