Men's soccer blanked on senior day

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's soccer team celebrated senior night against Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opponent Widener University which resulted in a 4-0 loss to the Pride. 

Inside the Box Score 
  • James Endicott (Port Republic, NJ/Cedar Creek) shot a team-high three times for Hood. 
  • Anthony Polio (Germantown, MD/Northwest) and Taj Weems (Philadelphia, PA/LaSalle College) both added two shots. 
  • Nick Humphries (Potomac, MD/Potomac) recorded eight saves in all 90 minutes. 
How It Happened
  • Hood's best chance to get on the scoreboard was in the 54th minute when Polio headed the shot just inches over the crossbar.
  • Widener got the scoring started early in the fourth minute of the game when Ryan Toporowski headed the ball off the throw-in by Andrew Hurrell to earn the early 1-0 lead. 
  • Sean Fatiga wrapped up the first half scoring after netting an unassisted tally in the seventh minute of the game to extend the lead 2-0. 
  • The Pride secured the 4-0 win over Hood with two goals in the second half. Hurrell got his name in the score column after finishing a shot off a pass by Fatiga in the 56th minute while Fatiga scored his second of the game off a header on a corner kick by Max Hartke in the 60th minute. 
Analysis 
  • Widener held the 22-12 advantage in shots and 10-3 in corners. 
For the Opponent
  • Fatiga lead the Pride with two goals and one assist for five points.
  • Hurrell added three points to his name on one goal and one assist.
  • Toporowski added a goal while Hartke notched an assist for Widener. 
  • Ryan Van Pelt saw 69 minutes and made one save.
  • Kyle Stone came in to relieve Van Pelt for 20 minutes and recorded one save.

  • Hood falls to 3-11-2 (0-6) while Widener improves to 9-4-2 (4-0-1) on the season.
