Men's basketball stopped in semifinals

CHESTER, Pa. - Widener University opened the game with a 22-7 run and Hood could never get closer than seven the rest of the game as the Blazers' season came to a close in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Semifinals 73-62.

  • The deficit fluctuated between nine and 17 points over the rest of the half as Hood trailed 47-30 at the half. 
  • In the second half, the Blazers went on an 11-0 run and pulled within seven, 61-54, on a Strickland layup with 4:13 to go. 
  • The Pride answered with a nine-point surge to put the game away. 
Analysis
  • Outside of Widener's 10-for-24 mark from 3-point range (42 percent), neither team had its best shooting night. 
  • The Blazers held the Pride to only 4-for-22 shooting in the second half as Widener finished at 33 percent from the floor. 
  • Hood shot 34 percent in the game.
