FREDERICK, Md. – Geoff Moore, a former SUNY Division III head and assistant coach with a combined total of 204 wins, has been named Hood College's new men's soccer coach by Director of Athletics Dr. Susan Kolb.
"I am truly honored and excited," said Moore. "I look forward to working with a talented group of athletes, dedicated staff, and the Hood College community. Together we will strive for excellence on the field and off while creating a culture of unity, growth and success."
Since 2019, Moore has served as the head men's soccer coach at State University of New York, College at Morrisville. Prior to that, he held positions at other SUNY schools, as an assistant for ten years at SUNY Oneonta, and a head coach at SUNY Delhi from 2005-2008.
"Geoff is coming to Hood with national championship experience, proven successful strategies for recruiting, and a coaching philosophy that values discipline, relationships, and high expectations," said Kolb.
At Oneonta, Moore was part of a coaching staff who won five conference championships and made three NCAA "final four" appearances, one "sweet sixteen," and multiple second round appearances.
In addition to team success, he contributed to many individual accolades including six All-Americans, 21 All-Region players, and five SUNYAC players of the year.
"I know Geoff will lead our men's soccer program with integrity and grit, which I believe will create a bright future for our Blazers," added Kolb.
At the start of his career, Moore earned Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2006 and 2007. He later was named the 2014 NSCAA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year.
Moore has regional and advanced national coaching diplomas from the United Soccer Coaches Association. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in recreation and sport facility management from SUNY Delhi.
