Men's soccer routs Bison on Senior Day

FREDERICK, Md. – Quinton Brown's (Bowie, Md./Bowie) two first half goals and Shane Marks (Downingtown, PA/Coatesville) penalty kick on Hood's Senior Day highlighted the 10-0 rout of the Gallaudet Bison on Saturday evening. A total of nine different Blazers had a goal in the match.

Inside the Box Score

Quinton Brown (Bowie, Md./Bowie) had his first two goals of the season capitalizing on both of his on goal opportunities

Shane Marks (Downingtown, PA/Coatesville) had his first career goal via penalty kick.

Danny Rivera (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point), Daniel Ledman, and Adrian Corsi (Centreville, Va./Westfield) all scored first career goals in the match.

The 10 goals on the night places 2th all-time for goals in a game in program history, dating back to 2006 when Hood had a date on the pitch with Gallaudet.

How it Happened

As soon as the whistle was blown, the Blazers were finding opportunity plentiful as the celebrated seniors were on the offensive.

A ball floated into the box seemed to be heading out of play when Jonathan Fuentes (Hagerstown, Md./Oakdale) hit a header on the run that set the table for the aggressive Brown to storm the box and score his first goal of the season.

The Bison tried to create high bounces off the turf but nothing that Nick Humphries (Potomac, Md./Potomac) couldn't handle.

A feed by a speedy Anthony Lopez (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake), Cam Simpler (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink) skied a shot past the goalie as the ball hit off the crossbar and past the line for the Blazers' second goal on the evening.

Once the Blazers would gain control of the ball from Gallaudet attack, they would go to the long ball to the opposite half to score and they did just that finding Brown again for him to cash it in the 23'.

A hard foul in the box on James Endicott (Port Republic, N.J./Cedar Creek) created a penalty kick opportunity for the Blazers and Marks was chosen to take it.

Marks charged at the ball hard to the right but pulled up and lofted the shot over the outstretched goalie and Marks celebrated his first career goal on Senior Night with the Blazer bench.

In the 62' a corner for the Blazers found freshman Devin Ledman (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown High School) as he slammed the ball off the turf with his right foot and it went over the keeper to continue downpour.

A deflection off the goalie was redirected towards the right post but Alioune Diop (Dakar, Senegal/Seneca Valley (MD)) cleaned up the attempt with a bump off the boot for his first goal of the season and the Blazers' sixth goal on the night.

In another Hood pursuit, a slide tackle from the last Gallaudet defender didn't prevent Adrian Corsi (Centreville, Va./Westfield) to lose the touch as he regained his balance to tap the seventh goal on the night in.

In the 84' the 10th corner of the night found Landon Norcross (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) and he found payday to extend the lead to 8-0.

Checking in with less than five minutes to go was Rivera as he utilized some fancy footwork to slice the final three defenders with a shot off the goalie that had just enough mustard to find the net.

Jackson Quenzer (Westminster, Md./Gerstell Academy) decided he wanted in on the action by shooting from just past the midfield logo and found the top-left corner for a double-digit defeat of the Bison.

Analysis

The Blazers out shot the Bison 37-1, 8th most shots in program history.

Humphries was left with one save.

Eight assists in the game lands second all-time in program history.
