Women’s ice hockey blanked by Colonels

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Hood College women's ice hockey team could not even the series against Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Wilkes on the road, falling 8-0.

Inside the Box Score
Kamryn Sohner (Hilliard, Oh./Dallas Stars Elite AAA) made 36 saves in the loss.

How it Happened
Wilkes got on the board early, opening the scoring just over four minutes into the game. A second goal at the 7:51 mark put the Blazers in a two-goal deficit, and a third less than two minutes later gave the Colonels a three-spot before the first intermission.

Hood found itself on the penalty kill 4:26 into the second period, and Wilkes capitalized on the advantage, making it a 4-0 game before adding another goal just over 90 seconds later. Another advantage was given to the Colonels with just a few minutes in the period, and another power play goal for the home team put the Blazers in a 6-0 hole after two periods of play.

The Hood defense was strained again to start the final frame, and although it held for more than half the period, Wilkes eventually got another past Sohner for a 7-0 advantage, rounding off the scoring with another goal in the last minute of the period to make it an 8-0 loss for the Blazers.

For the Opponent
Renee Ng and Hannah Franz both scored two goals, with Franz adding an assist.

Gianna Pacilio had two assists.
