FREDERICK, MD. – The men's basketball team opened the 2025–26 season in triple-digit fashion, cruising to a 108–72 win over Notre Dame of Maryland University on Friday evening in Woodsboro Bank Arena to advance to the championship round of the Rotary Club of Frederick Tip-Off Tournament.
Inside the Box Score
Karron Mallory (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) filled the stat sheet with 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
Jevon Yarbrough (Hagerstown, Md./Williamsport) led the Blazers with 19 points and four assists.
Garrett Cox (Glen Allen, VA/Glen Allen) went 7-for-8 from the field and earned 16 points and seven rebounds.
How it Happened
The Gators bring back a lot of pieces and with some older talent looked to build off the good effort they brought in this very tournament a year prior.
Both teams raced out of the gate with fastbreak chances heading towards the 10-minute mark, but the Blazers looked to be able to score in more ways than one from more than one source. A vintage three-ball by Mallory and a hard-earned layup by Cox disrupted the back-and-forth affair.
A couple of Notre Dame three's to climb back in didn't drop, the Blazers core would respond with a rebound and a score on the other end slowly put them in their own lane. By the time we hit half, the Blue & Grey led by 30 points.
Hood rolled out most of the lineup and picked up 38 points off the bench. They dominated the offensive boards with 17-6 advantage and continued offensive possessions to never really let go of control of the ballgame.
For the Opponent
Ricardo Ross notched 14 points for the Gators.
Marlon Lewis posted a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
