YORK, PA. - The men's basketball team refused to yield in the second half and rallied to take down conference foe #23 York College of Pennsylvania 95-78 in Charles Wolf Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Inside the Box Score
Jevon Yarbrough (Hagerstown, Md./Williamsport) scores 29 points and grabs 9 rebounds while going 10-for-17 from the line in the effort.
Kullen Robinson (Alexandria, Va./Alexandria City) added 23 points to his season total.
Karron Mallory (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) totaled 17 points and sank three triples with strong effort in the second half to set the Blazers up.
How it Happened
Ten minutes in, both teams were shooting a 50 percent clip with six different scorers. We welcomed a gridlock to a runaway game with some of the nations top teams.
Ben Troyer encouraged the Spartan pace with a pair of threes and nine points to boast. Robinson matched connected on his first three of four.
Teams would finish at a dead tie at half 40-40.
Mallory would heat up the second half with his play in the lane and then sink a signature three ball to push a 51-46 lead.
York would respond with the deep ball of their own to combat the Blazers pace of play. A three minute time period would change a 10 point lead for Hood to just two with five minutes to go at 73-71.
After a much needed Robinson layup, Yarbrough would score six straight for the Blue & Grey and provide a steal to led to a Garrett Cox (Glen Allen, VA/Glen Allen) bucket that would revert the game to the 10-point cushion.
The game would end in an 11-2 run by the Blazers as the Spartans would post a 1-for-10 mark beyond the arc to end the game.
"That was a great college basketball game," said head coach Chad Dickman. "Both teams took care of the ball and didn't do much to beat themselves."
"Our guards really brought it with the scoring—especially down the stretch—but I thought our forwards were awesome defensively and on the glass. Just a blue collar effort against a physical team."
